More About Uizard

In 2017, a computer science graduate at a Danish tech firm noticed something absurd: a designer would spend days converting a napkin sketch into a clickable prototype, then hand it off to a developer who spent more days turning those pixels into code. Tony Beltramelli wondered if a machine could collapse that chain entirely. His hobby project — pix2code — trained a neural network to read screenshots and spit out working HTML, CSS, and Swift. The research paper went viral in the AI community, and Uizard was born.

Democratizing Design

Uizard launched its public beta in 2021 with a provocative proposition: what if anyone — a product manager, a startup founder, a business analyst — could build a testable UI prototype in the time it takes to write a brief? The platform's AI engine, Autodesigner, generates complete multi-screen user flows from a few sentences of plain English. Sketch a wireframe on paper, photograph it, and the tool converts it into editable components. Drop in a URL or screenshot of a competitor's app and Uizard remaps it into a live mockup you can iterate on within minutes.

The tool attracted an eclectic roster of enterprise users — Adidas, Tesla, Google, Slack, Airbus, Deloitte, Airbnb, and ByteDance all appeared in the platform's customer list by 2021. By the time of its Series A announcement in August 2021, Uizard had crossed 170,000 registered accounts and 13,000 monthly active users. The team of 12 had built something that industry sceptics once called "technically impossible."

Acquired for AI-Powered Collaboration

In June 2024, Miro — the online collaborative whiteboard used by over 60 million people — acquired Uizard to anchor its AI product design capabilities. By that point Uizard had grown to 3 million total users and ~$3.5M ARR, entirely on a self-serve model with 98% of revenue coming from individual subscriptions. The founding team, led by Tony Beltramelli (now Head of Product for AI at Miro), had proved that design democratization was not a niche feature but a mass-market need. Uizard's Autodesigner 2.0, launched days after the acquisition announcement, signalled the platform's trajectory: conversational AI that generates and iterates on entire design systems, not just individual screens.

Uizard FAQ's

What is Uizard?

Uizard is an AI-powered UI design tool that lets anyone — regardless of design experience — create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes. Its core AI engine, Autodesigner, generates full multi-screen user flows from plain text prompts, and can also convert hand-drawn sketches or screenshots into editable designs.

Is Uizard free to use?

Yes, Uizard offers a free plan that includes 2 projects, 3 AI generations per month, and access to Autodesigner 1.5. Paid plans (Pro at $12/user/month annually, Business at $49/user/month annually) unlock unlimited projects, more AI generations, Autodesigner 2.0, and advanced collaboration features.

Who acquired Uizard?

Miro, the online collaborative whiteboard platform used by over 60 million people, acquired Uizard in June 2024. The acquisition amount was not publicly disclosed. Uizard continued operating as a standalone product after the acquisition.

What is Autodesigner?

Autodesigner is Uizard's flagship AI feature. It generates complete, multi-screen UI designs — including wireframes and high-fidelity mockups — from a short text description of an app or product idea. Autodesigner 2.0, released in 2024, added conversational iteration so users can refine designs through follow-up prompts.

What companies use Uizard?

Uizard has been used by teams at Fortune 500 and major tech companies including Adidas, Google, Tesla, Slack, Airbus, Deloitte, Apple, Airbnb, Hitachi, ByteDance, Capital One, and UiPath, as well as many startups and independent product teams.
