rabbit inc. is an AI hardware and software company headquartered in Los Angeles (Santa Monica), California. Founded in 2020 by Jesse Lyu, Dan Ferris, and Peiyuan Liao, rabbit builds AI-native devices powered by its proprietary Large Action Model (LAM) — a foundation model trained to understand human intentions and execute tasks across applications.

The company's flagship product, the rabbit r1, is a $199 pocket-sized AI companion co-designed with Swedish electronics firm Teenage Engineering. Unveiled at CES 2024, the r1 runs rabbitOS — an operating system that replaces traditional app-based interaction with natural voice commands. Over 100,000 r1 units were pre-ordered before shipping, generating approximately $10M in pre-launch revenue.

Unlike LLMs that generate text, LAM is trained to operate apps directly on behalf of users — booking tickets, ordering food, managing files, and more — without requiring custom API integrations. rabbit has since shipped rabbitOS 2 (Sep 2025) and launched its second product, rabbit intern (Jun 2025), a desktop AI agent.

The r1 has received the Red Dot "Best of the Best" design award (2025) and the iF Design Award 2025. Jesse Lyu previously founded Raven Tech, a conversational AI OS startup acquired by Baidu in 2017, and is a two-time Y Combinator alumnus.
